Nashville has transitioned into Phase 1c, its newest phase for vaccine rollout, offering eligible residents a chance to register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Health officials have said that this newest phase means an estimated 300,000 more Nashville residents will become eligible to get vaccinated.

Phase 1c includes pregnant women and residents 16 and older with serious medical conditions, including chronic renal disease, COPD, moderate to severe asthma, obesity (with a BMI over 30), dementia, sickle cell, liver disease, and more. A full list of conditions can be found on the Tennessee Department of Heath's website here.

In addition to Nashville, more Tennessee counties will also be moving into Phase 1c, which also includes caregivers for residents who are high risk. Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said the expansion across the state is in anticipation of the state receiving more vaccine supply, FOX 17 reports, including of the newly-approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

"This is a massive population, and the reason we are going to go ahead and speed up and go over that phase is in anticipation for this large surplus of vaccine that we expecting the next 2 to 3 weeks," said Dr. Piercey.

To schedule an appointment, Nashville residents are encouraged to call 615-862-7777 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or visit the Metro Public Health Department's website here. To find a vaccine provider near you, visit vaccinefinder.org.
