Two days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey aired, Buckingham Palace has released a public statement. While Queen Elizabeth is calling Meghan and Harry's claims, including that of racism within the Palace, "concerning," she has also deemed the situation a "private" matter.
"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," the Palace's statement reads. "The issue raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately."
Like every other statement Queen Elizabeth has released about Harry and Meghan's departure from their royal roles, the concluding line states "Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."
Though Harry and Meghan raised the alarm about prejudices within the "institution" of the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex repeatedly praised Her Majesty throughout their sit down with Oprah. Meghan said the Queen was "always wonderful" to her, while Harry called his grandmother his "Colonel in Chief" and said he has "too much respect" for Her Majesty to ever blindside her.
