Denver and the entire Front Range will be seeing very different weather patterns starting Wednesday, March 10.

Currently, high temperatures in the metro area are over 10 degrees above normal for the second week of March, reports CBS4.

Cooler weather will start Wednesday with slight chances for drizzle and flurries in the metro area.

On Friday, March 12, heavy snow is expected to come to the area. The track the storm takes will impact how much snow the Front Range gets but this weekend's snowstorm also has the potential to be a significant one.

According to CBS4, Colorado see will at least several inches of snow on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If Denver manages to see at least 16 inches of snow then it will be the biggest snowstorm the city has seen since February 2012.

In 2012 Denver saw 15.9 inches of snowfall starting on Groundhog day, according to CBS4.

Meteorologists also say it's possible the incoming snowstorm could rival another storm Denver had around Christmas 2006. That year, 20.7 inches of snow fell on the city.

However, it is unlikely for Friday's storm to reach the biggest storm in the last 20 years, which brought in a total of 31.8 inches in March 2008.
