An Oklahoma City grandmother left her 3-year-old grandson in the backseat of a running car after taking a sleeping pill on Saturday.
Oklahoma City police found the women's running car parked at a stop sign in a residential neighborhood around midnight. Cops thought the vehicle was empty, but found a 3-year-old boy sleeping in the car, KFOR reported.
The little boy was OK, but was alone.
Authorities found the grandmother's name on a paper in the car. It didn't have her address so officers started knocking on nearby doors.
Police eventually found right house. The grandmother looked like she just woke up before opening her front door, according to the police report.
The woman confirmed for the police that they found her car, but she told them she didn't know her grandson was inside.
“She had apparently taken some sleeping medicine and then decided to go out and get some food,” said Police MSgt. Gary Knight told KFOR.
The woman told police she took an Ambien, which caused her to drive in her sleep.
Police arrested the woman on a felony charge of child neglect.
