Selena Gomez has big plans for her future—they just might not be what her fans expect.
On Tuesday (March 9), Selena appeared on the cover of Vogue. In the accompanying interview, the 28-year-old multi-hyphenate talent discussed what's next for her career after releasing her first Spanish language album Revelación. It turns out, Selena's music may be taking a back seat in the very near future.
“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously,” Selena said. “I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people, it still wasn’t enough. I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going."
"I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different," she added, though she didn't elaborate on what she means by "different." Instead, she said she wants to give her music career "one last try before I maybe retire music." When pushed by the interviewer to expand on this, Selena apparently "winced" and walked back her comments a bit. “I need to be careful,” she said, clarifying that she'd like to spend more time producing and “give myself a real shot at acting.”
Ultimately, Selena says she hasn't yet "touched the surface of what I want to do." When it comes to her acting career, she says "the parts that I want are the ones I need help with. I can’t wait for the moment when a director can see that I’m capable of doing something that no one’s ever seen.”
Would you like to see Selena take on more acting roles in the future?
