An Arizona family visited a local Target store to buy a toy with their son's saved-up money. However, the trip ended in sadness for the little boy.
Fox 10 Phoenix reported that the young boy had planned to go shopping with all of the money that he had saved up from past Christmases and birthdays.
During the trip, the seven-year-old boy, Hudson, sat the money down on a shelf to look at a toy.
The money, which was over $100 in cash, was wrapped up in a hair tie.
Hudson's mom, Julia Vanderloo, told Fox 10, "He put the money down as he was picking up a toy and I was not paying 100% attention and I did not see this, but after a few moments, he went to pick up his money and the money was gone and only the hair tie and scrunchy that the money was wrapped up in remained."
The family went to security in hopes of seeing something on surveillance footage. That's when a stranger walked up to ask what happened.
They explained the situation. The kind stranger, a man that appeared to be in his 30's, puled out $80 in cash and handed it to the family.
Vanderloo said, "I was pretty upset, I was crying a little bit and he was just so kind and pulled out his wallet and said, 'This is what I have with me' and handed me $80. I said, 'No, no, no, no thank you. We do not need this.' "
Despite the refusal, the man laid the money down next to her and walked away.
The mom took to social media to say a public "thank you" to the kind stranger.
The mom stated, "I just want to make sure that he knows how grateful we are."
The family said that they will be donating the $80 that the stranger gave them to the Phoenix Children's Hospital and doubling that number to $160.
