Bradley Sinclair once sold an Apple Watch to one of John Legend’s backup singers.
Now, he’s on The Voice.
Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton are back for NBC’s Emmy Award-winning competition series, according to the network.
Sinclair, 22, auditioned for the show with “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur.
The rendition earned two chair-turns: first by Clarkson, followed by Jonas.
“I currently live in Nashville, Tennessee,” Sinclair said while introducing himself. But he had to add: “I’m from a little town called Rockford, Michigan.”
Though he didn’t turn his chair during the blind audition, Legend applauded Sinclair’s range that he showed off with his song choice.
He also had to ask about Rockford, noting that he’s been to Grand Rapids (which Sinclair already knew).
“I met one of your backup singers at the Apple store,” Sinclair recalled. “I used to work for Apple and I sold him an Apple Watch.”
Still, Sinclair was faced with the ultimate decision: Team Kelly or Team Nick?
“Can we sing some old-school Jonas Brothers stuff?” Sinclair asked.
“You know it!” Jonas replied.
That’s when Clarkson knew: “I just lost.”
Aside from singing Jonas Brothers throwback songs, Jonas looked forward to working with Sinclair.
Here’s what Jonas said after Sinclair’s blind audition:
“When you were just kind of being absolutely yourself…it felt really good,” he said. “You’ve got an amazing foundation, vocally, to build on, and I would be honored to be your coach. I think we’d have a lot of fun together.”
