New Orleans authorities have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident in February that led to the death of a local woman.

On Thursday (March 11), The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reported that 22-year-old Adrian Caliste Jr. was arrested for his role in the death of Christina Larsen. Larsen, a local 31-year-old clothing designer, was killed last month while walking her dog Hubert near St. Charles Avenue and Harmony Street.

According to WWL-TV, Larsen was crossing the street shortly after 7 p.m. February 27 when she was struck by a fast-moving vehicle. The driver continued on their way as Larsen was left lying in the road. The vehicle that hit her was eventually found abandoned nearby.

When responders made it to the scene of the crash, they quickly took Larsen to a hospital for treatment. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries a few days later on March 2.

Authorities arrested Caliste and booked him into Orleans Justice Center Thursday morning (March 11). Caliste is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and first-degree injuring public records. According to The Times Picayune, if convicted of manslaughter, he could face up to 40 years in prison.
