In case you were wondering, a camping chair and a driver’s seat are not the same thing.

For many drivers (and campers), that's probably a given.

But apparently, that doesn’t go without saying for at least one driver in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin State Patrol shared a photo to its social media pages on Wednesday morning (March 10). The photo shows a folding chair set up behind the wheel of the car (which also appeared to have snow tracked into it… because Wisconsin).

“Recently, a trooper in the North Central Region stopped this pickup truck for an equipment violation,” the Wisconsin State Patrol wrote on its Facebook and Twitter pages. “On his approach, the trooper noticed the vehicle was not equipped with seats and the driver was seated in a camping chair.”

Appropriately, the agency added in a hashtag: You Don't See That Every Day.

The Wisconsin State Patrol also linked to the state law that requires restraining devices — including safety belts and air bags — and actual seats (not camping chairs, for example).

“The seat and seat mechanisms of every motor vehicle shall be in proper working condition,” the law reads. “All seats shall be securely fastened to the motor vehicle.”
