When the pandemic hit, many beloved annual events were canceled, including the typical South Carolina State Fair. With that light-hearted sense of fun gone, how else were people supposed to get their fill of delicious, deep-fried goodness that can only be found at the fair?
Organizers came up with a solution: a drive-thru fair. In October, rather than have the normal fair with rides, games, and exhibits, people could drive by and get some of their favorite fair foods to go, WLTX reports. The new event was such a success that they're doing it again!
Now is the time to grab your wallet and loosen your belt because the drive-thru food fair is coming back next month. From April 6 to April 11, anyone can drive by between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Lexington Medical Center Fair Park to pick up their favorite goodies, including: fiske fries, corn dogs, roasted corn, turkey legs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, fried Oreos, and much more. Learn more at the fair's website here.
"We appreciate everyone that came to our October fair food drive-through and look forward to seeing you in April," said Nancy Smith, general manager of the South Carolina Fair. "Our food vendors are ready and anxiously await your return, especially in light of this difficult season."
The normal South Carolina State Fair is scheduled to place October 13-24.
