Sacramento County Advances To Red Tier

Sacramento, along with nine other California counties, has advanced to the less restrictive red tier on the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
The move was announced on Tuesday, March 16, after California hit its goal of over 2 million vaccine doses administered in vulnerable areas last week.
The counties that moved to the red tier are:
- Lake
- Monterey
- Riverside
- Sacramento
- San Diego
- Santa Barbara
- Sutter
- Tehama
- Tulare
- Ventura
San Mateo County was allowed to advance to the orange tier, reports FOX40.
The new guidelines will go into effect starting Wednesday, March 17.
Here's what changes when the county moves to the red tier:
- Restaurants can resume indoor dining at 25% capacity or 100 people
- K-12 Schools can reopen for in-person instruction without seeking a waiver
- Gyms can operate indoors at 10% capacity
- Movie Theaters reopen with theaters at 25% capacity
- Shopping Centers can up their capacity from 25% to 50% with food courts reopening at 25% capacity
- Live Events that are outdoors will be able to have up to 20% capacity
- Museums, Zoos, & Aquariums can resume some indoor activities with a max capacity of 25%
- Amusement Parks can reopen at 15% capacity in the red tier starting April 1
