A Utah family is still stranded in Hawaii after a COVID-19 mixup, reported Fox 13 Now.

Sarah and Charles Kerr along with their two children arrived in Hawaii for their dream vacation on March 5th, and they're still stuck there.

Sarah told Fox 13, "This is on our dime. Nobody cares if I have to stay until the end of the month, and they are in no hurry to help us."

The Kerrs received COVID-19 tests before leaving, as required for entry into the state. Charles said, "Our results came, and my two kids were negative, and I was positive. And I was like, 'wait a minute this makes no sense.'"

Charles had COVID in December and completely recovered. He was also fully vaccinated in February.

Charles received a second test to confirm that he was negative. He said, "I uploaded that test to the Safe Hawaii travel website, they cleared me, like, instantly. They gave me a wristband to get on the plane and we were off to Maui."

The state called Charles a few days later and asked about his positive result. Once Charles explained the situation, he said the lady acted as if it were no big deal.

He then received a call that said they must cancel their flights or else they would be placed on the CDC Do Not Fly list.

Charles received a letter that cleared him to fly but still received bad news that Charles had been placed on the Do Not Fly list after trying to print boarding passes.

Turns out, Charles and his wife were both on the list. Charles said, "Mine says I'm done on the 15th, but hers says the 25th of March. She's never even had a positive test and they are going to keep her until the 25th?"

Their children were able to fly back to Utah, but were stopped by security when they returned.

Sarah said, "We're missing work at home, we're canceling things, scrambling to take care of things."
