One Prescott family was left to clean every inch of their home after finding fiberglass in their young sons' mattress, reported AZ family.

Luken and Jackson Richie were going to get to sleep in their new beds for the first time, an exciting adventure for a three-year-old and a five-year-old.

Amanda Richie, the boys' mom, said, "They got their new jammies, their best blankets, their best stuffed animals, we made their bed and took their pictures."

The night didn't quite go as planned, however.

Within just a few minutes, the boys came out and told their mom that they were itching.

Amanda said, "The one things that's different is the mattress, so we took them out really fast."

She couldn't see anything that would cause the irritation, so she got a flashlight and saw tiny strands of fiberglass.

"They literally lit up. They were like disco balls, just knives of glass all over," she said.

The fibers were all over the home and had been released when she washed the mattress covers.

She said, "If it is so dangerous, why is it removable?"

The Richies spent over a week deep cleaning their home. They had their walls painted, professional HVAAC cleaning and more to ensure that the house was cleaned properly.

Amanda is hoping her story will help others and will set a change in motion for manufacturing standards.
