DC Comics is celebrating LGBTQ Pride festivity a little early.
As per a recent announcement from WarnerMedia, DC will be releasing a string of queer-inclusive content throughout the year. The first installment of DC Pride will arrive on June 8 via a 80-page anthology highlighting the LGBTQ characters across the DC Universe, as well as the actors who play them. More specifically, DC Pride #1 will feature Nia Nal/Dreamer from The CW's Supergirl, a trans woman superhero, who is played by trans activist-turned-actress Nicole Maines.
Throughout the month of June, DC will release Pride-themed variants of standard comic books "giving fans the opportunity to purchase comics featuring covers with Batman, Harley, Ivy, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more." After Pride celebrations wrap, a number of LGBTQ offerings will be released, including Suicide Squad: Bad Blood (April 27), an eight-issue miniseries of Crush & Lobo (June 1, 2021 through January 2022) and YA graphic novel, I Am Not Starfire, (July 27).
Well, isn’t this just a Dream come true?!??
