Rory Feek is remembering his late wife Joey Feek in his new song.

It’s been five long years since the country music industry mourned the loss of the “When I’m Gone” singer-songwriter, who passed away following a cancer battle in 2016. Keeping her memory alive is her Grammy-winning husband Rory, who recently honored her with a touching and tender tribute song titled “One Angel.”

The four-minute-long acoustic guitar record, conveyed through a bittersweet video, portrays Rory, guitar in hand, remembering the difficult final moments of his wife’s fight with the disease.

"Honestly, a lot of people hearing me sing that song might think that I'm angry and these are my words," Rory told PEOPLE of the bluesy sentiment behind the song. "It's not that I don't have moments of that, but it is not my words. I understand the feeling behind those words though."

Joey is survived by her husband and the couple’s daughter Indiana, who was two years old when her mother died.

"In a lot of ways, it's hard to believe that it's been five years. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and then, other times, it feels like another life," said Rory. "Indy was 2 and now she is 7. [Indiana] is a little person now. When I look at her, I can gauge the years. In a lot of ways, it's hard to believe that it's been five years. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and then, other times, it feels like another life."
