Colorado Leaders Share Condolences After King Soopers Shooting In Boulder

Colorado leaders have spoken out since the tragic King Soopers shooting in Boulder that left 10 dead on Monday, March 22.

A statement from the Office of Colorado Governor Jared Polis read, "Today, ten lives were tragically lost, including Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley. Officer Talley served more than ten years with the Boulder Police Department and tragically lost his life at the age of 51 while working to save the lives of others."

"This year we have all been surrounded by loss of life, illness and isolations, and the deep grief that has accompanied the loss of life as we knew it. As spring sprung this weekend, and vaccines continue to get into arms, lightness creeped back in only for the darkness to descend on us again today. Today we saw the face of evil. I am grieving with my community and all Coloradans."

State Rep. Tom Sullivan also shared his condolences for the victims and their families.

"Simply don't have the words and doing all I can to maintain the strength I will need to get through this day," tweeted Sullivan. "We don't have to live like this. We must do more!"

Sullivan lost his son in the Aurora theater shooting in 2012, according to CBS4.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and other state representatives shared messages of love, grief, and encouraged the state to do more in terms of gun violence.
