Sir Elton John is recruiting some friendly faces for his upcoming AIDS Foundation Oscar Pre-Party.
On Monday (March 22), the iconic entertainer's foundation announced that the upcoming 29th annual affair will take place virtually on April 25 and be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. When it comes to musical duties, the one-hour ceremony will feature a "stripped back" performance from Dua Lipa, as well as John. It all begins one hour before the Academy Awards begin with other soon-to-be-announced guests joining the lineup. Up to 100,000 tickets to the show will be available via Ticketmaster starting at $20.
Additionally, fans can purchase an exclusive VIP experience to view the Academy Awards, alongside John, husband David Furnish, among other guests. The stream will be hosted by Cisco Webex.
"This year, we are bringing our Oscar Party into people’s homes for the first time virtually for an unforgettable evening with David [Furnish], myself, our dear friend Neil Patrick Harris and the incredible Dua Lipa plus many fabulous surprise names," John said in a statement. "Now more than ever, we need to ensure that one pandemic does not override another, and we cannot forget the 38 million people living with HIV globally who need our care, love and support so we hope everyone joins us for this special one of a kind Oscar Pre-Party."
Meanwhile, Lipa shared her excitement for the event. "It's such an honor to be a part of one of the most iconic Oscar parties and I’m really proud to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation to help tackle the stigma that exists around HIV as we need to build a kinder and more accepting world together," she said. "And to share the stage with Elton John will be a dream come true!"
John and Lipa celebrated the announcement by hopping on Instagram Live together, where they gushed about the upcoming affair, the significance behind its legacy and more.
