March 23, 2021
Boston's Seaport neighborhood will be offering a unique art installation this spring with ties to the local area.
A local developer has set up 1,900 pink lawn flamingos in celebration of the changing of the seasons, CBS Boston reports.
The flamingos will be on display in Seaport until March 30 and moved in two different areas the following day.
A total of 400 flamingos will be placed at The Street Chestnut Hill and 1,100 others will fly over to MarketStreet Lynfield on April 1.
The flamingo's journey can be followed on social media by using the hashtag #whattheflock.
The art display was setup by WS Development, which says it aimed to showcase the lawn flamingos and hoped they brought a smile to people's faces this spring.

The pink plastic flamingos were designed by late artist Don Featherstone, a Massachusetts native, who created the lawn decorations in 1957.
Featherstone credited the idea from seeing photographs of actual flamingos in National Geographic as he was unable to obtain the bird to use as a model.
The plastic flamingo grew in popularity over the years and was showcased in various art exhibits.
Featherstone, a native of Worcester, died from Lewy body dementia while living in Fitchburg in 2015 at the age of 79.
