Regal Cinemas Will Reopen Movie Theaters In April

Regal Cinemas is set to reopen its theaters next month. The company first closed its theaters nationwide in March 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. While Regal Cinemas manged to reopen temporarily, they ultimate shut down again in October.

Regal's parent company, CineWorld, made the exciting announcement on Tuesday (March 23). With 7,076 screens in 536 theatres across the nation, Regal will have a phased reopening beginning on April 2. Each theater will "allow guests at limited capacity based on local guidelines," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We have long-awaited this moment," Mooky Greidinger, the chief executive of Cineworld, told The Wrap. "With capacity restrictions expanding to 50% or more across most U.S. states, we will be able to operate profitably in our biggest markets."

Fans will be able to catch Warner Bros.′ Godzilla vs. Kong during Regal's first weekend back, while Mortal Kombat will hit the big screens at Regal on April 16.
