Atlanta Police Arrest Man Carrying 6 Guns In Publix Supermarket

Atlanta authorities detained a man inside a Publix store, where he was armed with five weapons.
Law enforcement officials identified Rico Marley, 22. Police confirm Marley is charged with reckless conduct and will be transported to the Fulton County Jail. Police recovered firearms, body armor and property during the investigation, and will hold them for evidence, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Officers responded to the Publix Supermarket at Atlantic Station shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (March 24). Management told the officers that a man “armed with a rifle” entered the store. Police “immediately” found the man and detained him for questioning, according to a news release from the Atlanta Police Department.
The investigation yielded five firearms — two long guns and three pistols — and body armor, the release states.
Later reports say that Marley carried six guns.

“Preliminary investigation indicates (Marley) entered the location openly carrying a rifle and entered the bathroom. A witness observed (Marley) and alerted store management who then notified police…Grady EMS is also on scene conducting a mental health evaluation on (Marley),” the release stated, noting that the investigation remained ongoing.
WSB-TV reports that Marley will also be charged with aggravated assault, according to the district attorney’s office.
