The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) released a new COVID-19 dial on Tuesday night (March 23).

Dial 3.0 will go into effect on Wednesday, March 24, along with a new public health order, reports CBS4.

The updated dial makes it easier for counties to advance to Level Green, which is the state's least restrictive level. However, many restrictions have been removed under Dial 3.0's Level Green and Level Blue.

There are no capacity restrictions for outdoor events or 5 Star certified restaurants and gyms in both Levels Green and Blue. Counties can still implement restrictions at a local level, according to CBS4.

The CDPHE invited the community to provide feedback on a draft of the new dial on Friday, March 19. People feel that the new metrics are less restrictive but still help protect the public against the ongoing pandemic.

“Coloradans have made great sacrifices to protect ourselves and our communities from COVID-19 over the past year,” said the CDPHE's executive director Jill Hunsaker Ryan. “While this is still a time for caution, these changes to the Dial better reflect where we are in the pandemic today, and the balance we are trying to strike between disease suppression and economic hardship.”
