NBA YoungBoy has been indicted by a federal grand jury on firearm charges stemming from his September 2020 arrest.

Nearly two days after the 21-year-old rapper, born Kentrell Gaulden, was taken into FBI custody after allegedly attempting to flee from police when he was pulled over in Los Angeles over an outstanding federal warrant, the indictment revealing the reason behind his arrest has been unsealed.

In the documents, which were obtained by TMZ, federal prosecutors pointed to the September 2020 incident when YoungBoy was taken into police custody, along with 15 other people, on drug and firearms charges in his hometown of Baton Rouge. As noted by the outlet, authorities took issue with two guns — a .45 pistol and a 9mm handgun —Youngboy allegedly had in his possession.

Given that YoungBoy has been convicted of a felony, he’s forbidden under state and federal laws from possessing a firearm.

The "All In" rapper has been charged with one count of illegal possession of firearms by a felon, and possession of an unregistered weapon. At the time of his September arrest, "local law enforcement only hit him with drug charges, and his attorney denied any of the guns found belonged to NBA Youngboy," TMZ reported.
