Taylor Swift showed her generosity to another mother impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday (March 23), the pop icon and her mother, Andrea, donated $50,000 to the GoFundMe account dedicated to Vickie Quarles, the mother of five daughters, who recently lost her husband, Theodis Ray Quarles, due to COVID-19. The amount was the exact goal needed to complete the online fundraiser. At time of press, the donation funds had reached $62,105.
"While so many families have lost loved ones in 2020 for various reasons, this one reminded me of the unexpected loss of superstar NBA champion, Kobe Bryant. Except the MVP of this family of five daughters is Theodis Ray Quarles," organizer DeQuanda Smith wrote of Vickie on the account's bio section. "When the paramedics arrived to the Quarles' home to transport Theodis to the hospital for breathing difficulties, Vicki wasn't allowed to accompany her husband due to quarantine restrictions. Little did she know that this would be her final engagement with her best friend. She later received a call from the hospital that Theodis had succumb to this awful virus."
As per Yahoo News, Quarles died at age 48 on December 18, 2020 after being rushed to the hospital a day prior for "breathing difficulties." He is survived by his daughters, Alyssa, Anaya, Asia, Allie and Aryah.
Back in December, Swift did something similar when she donated $13,000 to two mothers via their own GoFundMe accounts. She was reportedly inspired by a Washington Post article that highlighted Americans who were behind on their rent.
