Authorities have revealed new details about the car crash that killed St. Louis Blues legend Bob Plager.

Police confirmed that Plager died in a crash on Interstate 64 before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon (March 24). He was 78.

Around 1:15 p.m., Plager was driving eastbound on I-64 in his 2013 Cadillac SRX. He was in the right lane.

Suddenly, Plager drifted to the left and struck another vehicle, a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. Then, he hit a concrete wall to the right and crossed the whole highway before hitting the median, Fox 2 Now reports.

A 46-year-old was driving the Dodge with a 20-year old in the passenger seat. Both occupants were uninjured in the collision, according to the station.

The crash remains under investigation.

The St. Louis Blues quickly issued a statement honoring Plager and noting the “unimaginable” loss.

It reads, in part:

"He was an original 1967 member of the St. Louis Blues, but also an original in every sense of the word. Bobby's influence at all levels of the Blues organization was profound and everlasting, and his loss to our city will be deep."

Since then, the Blues has continued to share countless tributes to the legendary No. 5 (though, “No. 1 in your hearts,” the Blues pointed out).
