The general public in Colorado will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting Friday, April 2.
Governor Jared Polis announced the state's shift into Phase 2 of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution during a news conference on Monday, March 29.
Polis said he expects anyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one within six to eight weeks after Phase 2 begins.
"Just because we're opening it to all of Colorado doesn't mean they'll get it that first weekend," said Polis.
Colorado is currently in Phase 1B.4 of the vaccine distribution plan, which includes most frontline and essential workers, reports KRDO.
Coloradans who are 60-70 years and older will continue to be prioritized for vaccine appointments, according to Polis.
He also announced 70% of Coloradans 60 and older have already been vaccinated.
In total, 1,579,599 residents have been vaccinated with the first dose and 999,618 have been fully vaccinated.
A new community vaccination site is being opened at Ball Arena in downtown Denver and mobile busses distributing the vaccine will travel throughout the state starting next week.
As of now, there are five community vaccination sites around the state.
When the vaccine opens to the general public on Friday, you can sign up through a provider.
