in #CASE you missed it...Russia Admits To Staging Bogus Yeti Sightings
A Russian regional leader decided nothing was too much for his employees to do in the name of giving tourism a jump-start. Aman Tuleyev, one of the longest-serving regional leaders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, says he ordered a tall bureaucrat to wear an Abominable Snowman outfit from 1997 to 2018. Why? So he could be spotted in the bushes by visitors, of course.
It’s not a normal thing for your boss to ask, is it? Tuleyev arranged an annual Yeti Day and offered a cash prize for proving the yeti exists after a video seemed to show a yeti in the area. This brought a lot of people to the area, but when interest died down he came up with his master plan.
It gets better. Tuleyev ordered his district chief to find someone tall, throw off his office suit, turn a fur coat inside out, and then run around shouting so the tourists notice. He added “But they must not catch him,” which probably relieved the employee. Asked if the yeti is real, Tuleyev said “Maybe he really wanders somewhere.”
