Officials at a South Carolina school are warning parents to be on the lookout after a uniquely-packaged drug was found in the Lancaster County School District, WBTV reports.

During a weapon and drug scan at several schools in Lancaster County, a K9 officer led school officials to a shocking discovery in a student's bag. What appeared to be a pre-packaged PB&J favored among children actually contained a psychoactive compound found in marijuana.

Bryan Vaughn, director of safety and transportation with the school district, posted a warning about the incident to the department's Facebook page on Tuesday (April 13).

"If you take a close look at the picture of the package confiscated you will see a product that looks just like what shows up in lunch boxes across the county everyday," Vaughn wrote. "The exception is these peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are full of THC that is derived from marijuana. This allows for students to consume the drug undetected."

Officials with the school district believe the misleading package is meant to fly under the radar of staff while targeting students.

"Parents please take note of this," Vaughn continued. "Watch those kids closely. We are working to keep up with the trends to deter drug use on our campuses and educate parents so they can protect their children in the community."
