A new study from Insurify shows that Fresno is one of the 20 cities that are seeing huge surges in rent values in 2021.
Most housing markets across the U.S. didn't see surges in rent during the COVID-19. In fact, several major cities like New York, Seattle, and San Francisco actually saw rent prices drop throughout the past year.
Many people who formerly lived in big cities found themselves leaving to smaller and more spacious cities.
Fresno saw a 6.51% increase in rent in 2021, putting it at No. 13.
To put that in perspective, the national average percent increase in overall rent values was 0.42%.
The study also found that the median rent cost as of February 2021 was $1,276. With a population of 515, 986, 54% are renters.
The city that has seen the greatest increase in rent prices from September 2020 to February 2021 was Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Here are all 20 cities with the largest rent price increases:
- Palm Beach Gardens, FL
- Lake Charles, LA
- Wellington, FL
- Catalina Foothills, AZ
- Bend, OR
- Palm Harbor, FL
