A South Sacramento family is hoping their puppy will be returned to them after it was stolen from the front yard of their home, reports FOX40.
Amanda Duhaime, a disabled veteran, said the whole situation has been heartbreaking.
"She's my emotional support animal and I miss her a lot," Duhaime told FOX40.
Duhaime and her two children say their 4-month-old Rottweiler puppy, Rubi Rose, was stolen from their gated front yard.
"My kids and I grabbed treats and came out here and were running up and down the neighborhood trying to find her," she said.
That's when Duhaime had the idea to ask if she could check her neighbor's security camera footage.
In the video, two female passengers in what Duhaime believes to be a 2004 grey Honda Civic, are parked in front of her neighbor's driveway.
Then one gets out and looks to be calling the dog towards her. Moments later, the driver also gets out and walks toward Duhaime's gate. She is then seen walking back to the car with Rubi Rose.
"They either jumped on my neighbor’s garbage can and jumped over my fence and back over or they pulled her through the fence, when she doesn’t fit so she could be harmed," said Duhaime.
The family is asking the community to keep an eye out for the dog and to contact the Sacramento Police Department with any information.
"Everbody be careful, even with a locked, gated yard, people steal your dogs," warned Duhaime.
