A popular Sacramento brunch spot is gearing up to reopen after being closed for over a year, reports CBS13.

Tower Cafe has announced it will be reopening on July 20, according to the restaurant's Yelp page.

The spot has been closed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and many locals wondered if they would ever reopen.

For the past year, Tower Cafe's website has had a message apologizing for the closure.

"We are truly sorry for having to close temporarily during this time of crisis, but we believe it is in the best interest and safety of the public at large and our own staff to do so," read the message. “Our hearts go out to all those here and around the world that have suffered and continue to suffer the loss of loved ones. We hope all of this can end soon."

Even as COVID-19 guidelines eased up in Sacramento County and many local restaurants shifted to take-out and delivery orders, Tower Cafe has remained closed throughout the ongoing pandemic.

The restaurant's owner told the Sacramento Bee that he didn't feel safe reopening at any time during the pandemic.

According to CBS13, the owner said when Tower Cafe does reopen in July it will have both indoor and outdoor dining.
