Two people in North Carolina have been charged with assault after reportedly getting into a fight while in line at a Raleigh-area gas station on Tuesday (May 11).
According to ABC 11, police in Knightdale responded to reports of a crash and disturbance at a Marathon gas station Tuesday afternoon. The disturbance was believed to be related to a fight between a man and a woman over spots in line at a gas station.
The fight was captured on video by a bystander and shared to the news outlet, showing two cars next to each other at the gas station. The verbal argument turned physical after both drivers allegedly spat in the other's face and they began taking swipes at each other. According to police, a cellphone was also damaged during the incident.
The woman in the video has been charged with simple assault while the man is charged with assault on a female and damage to personal property.
The East Coast and southeastern states continue to experience the fallout of the Colonial Pipeline temporary closure. North Carolina hit a peak Wednesday night, with nearly 75% of all stations experiencing an outage of gasoline. By Thursday morning, the percentage had decreased slightly to 71% and by 2 p.m., the numbers had improved even more, with 68% experiencing a shortage.
Colonial Pipeline announced Wednesday that it was resuming operations, but it may still take time for gas stations to return to a normal supply.
