Colorado has created a new monetary incentive program to help unemployed residents as they return to work.
Governor Jared Polis signed an Executive Order on Wednesday, May 19, creating the Colorado Jumpstart Program, reports CBS4.
Some unemployed residents are now eligible to receive an incentive payment of up to $1,600 if they find a full-time job.
To be eligible, a person must have received at least one week of unemployment benefits between the dates of March 28, 2021, and May 16, 2021.
Applicants must also verify their identities on ID.me.
Coloradans who return to work in May will receive the highest payment, $1,600. Those who return to work in June will receive a payment of $1,200.
People must maintain their job for at least eight weeks to get the money. Payments are expected to go out in August.
“Powering the comeback means supporting Coloradans getting back to work and our businesses as they expand,” said Polis. “We know that getting back to work doesn’t mean all the financial challenges Coloradans are facing just disappear, and we want to ensure that as more people are returning to the workforce, we are setting them up for success.”
