Lil Nas X explained what caused his hilarious wardrobe malfunction on Saturday Night Live.
Last night (May 24), the “Sun Goes Down” superstar made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he was asked to speak about what caused him to split his leather pants onstage.
For those who missed it, the rapper made his SNL debut this past weekend, where he delivered a smoking-hot performance of his seductive song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” The presentation involved a lot of sexy choreography and saw a shirtless, leather-clad Lil Nas X gyrating during a pole-dancing number that quickly went awry when he tore open his pants while dropping it like it’s hot.
"So I was pretty much going down on the pole, doing my little sexy dropdown, and boom, I feel air!" the 22-year-old recalled. "I was like, 'There's definitely a breeze going on.'"

"I also felt like some popping still happening while I was down there, so I was like, 'God, please don't be on TV already.' And 'SNL' is actually live," said Lil Nas X, who revealed he’d still had more of the dance routine to complete.
"At the end of the performance, the dancers are supposed to touch me and tug on me or whatever, and they were tugging on the pants, and I was like, 'Please, God, no,'" the “Rodeo” star recalled. "[But] It was perfect timing. If that had ripped at any other [earlier] time during the performance, it would have been over."
Apparently, no one was aware that Lil Nas X had split his pants until he remained onstage, covering himself, before telling his crew, “'I literally cannot leave, or everybody here will see everything.... please bring me a towel!’”
Thankfully, everything worked out in his favor. And what’s more, Lil Nas X even shared a clip from the rehearsal to show fans how the finale would have looked, sans the torn pants. Watch above.
