Since COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were lifted, the City and County of Denver have been hard at work trying to get residents back to businesses.
The "Denver All-Star Summer" launched in May, is aimed at encouraging metro-area residents back to Downtown after a year of stricter pandemic guidelines.
According to FOX31, new data shows that those efforts are starting to pay off.
According to new data from Zenreach, Denver businesses, including retail, restaurant, and entertainment establishments are doing remarkably better than other cities throughout the nation.
Denver has seen a 133% increase in foot traffic since the start of the new year.
“Having seen it being completely dead during the pandemic and to see what’s happening in LODO now is wonderful. There’s an excitement, there’s a buzz, there’s a number of people and we’re seeing tourists from the world yet again and it’s very good,” Don Andrews, owner of the LoDo Wellness Center on Wazee Street in Denver told FOX31.
Denver's 133% increase in foot traffic is significant when compared to the national average of 44%.
Denver restaurants and diners, specifically, are also seeing an increase in patronage. Foot traffic at eateries in the Mile High City has jumped up by 127% since January 1, 2021.
Meanwhile, the national average is only up 48% since the New Year.
