Two women from Colorado came out on top in a race to the tallest mountain in the Northeast, reports FOX31.

On Saturday, June 19, Kim Dobson and Ashley Brasovan competed in the Northeast Mount Washington Road Race. This year the race celebrated its 60th anniversary.

With a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 16 seconds, Dobson from Eagle took first place on Saturday. Brasovan of Golden was just behind Dobson coming in at second place.

According to the Mt. Washington website, "This historic all-uphill run draws thousands of runners from around the globe to make the grueling climb to the summit of the highest peak in the Northeast. In 2021, the international component of this race has been eliminated due to travel restrictions due to COVID."

The race released a press statement about Dobson and Brasovan's accomplishment.

"It is Dobson’s sixth win in six tries. Ashley Brasovan, 30, of Golden, CO, took an early lead out of the gates and pushed the pace until being passed and dropped by Dobson around the 1.5 mile mark. Dobson’s lead at the halfway mark was around a minute over Brasovan. By the five mile mark Dobson’s lead was insurmountable, and she continued to pull away until the end."
