An American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Seattle had an emergency landing on Sunday, June 27.

Passengers on the flight told The News Tribune that they heard a loud boom during take-off.

Shortly after take-off, the plane shifted to one side and Brittany Donn told the Observer that it felt like one of the plane's wheels touched back down on the runway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

"The plane was really wobbly," Seattle resident Ellen Lynch said in an interview. “And then all of a sudden, the flight attendant said that we had to prepare for a crash landing. And he started showing us how to get in the position.”

According to Lynch, the flight attendant told passengers that one of the plane's engines was out.

Curtis Blessing, a spokesman for American Airlines, said on Monday, June 28, that flight 2775 from CLT to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport returned to Charlotte due to "a possible mechanical issue."

Donn said flight attendants ran through crash landing drills with passengers for about 10 minutes in the air before landing. Passengers had to brace for impact during the emergency landing.

“All we knew was an engine was out,” she said. “So (the flight attendant) said ‘All right, you guys are gonna get in the crash positions.’ And people were praying, crying.”

The plane landed back at CLT at 9:57 A.M. and the landing was loud but relatively normal, said Lynch.

"I was so thankful to just get off that plane."

There were no injuries reported, according to KIRO7.
