Over two dozen customers were under a precautionary boil water notice after a ruptured water line flooded an alley in South Mission Beach, reports City News Service (CNS).
The pipeline broke on Wednesday, July 7, and began flooding the access road off the 2700 block of Bayside Lane, according to San Diego police.
The flood also submerged areas of Mission Boulevard and adjacent sidewalks and alleys.
According to CNS, no structural flooding was immediately reported.
The city announced the precautionary boil water notice to about 25 homes in the area of Bayside Lane near San Luis Rey Place just after 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday night.
Utility crews had the flood controlled by late Wednesday afternoon, according to city spokesman Arian Collins. The ruptured pipeline also left 25 customers without water service.
The city of San Diego tweeted an update on Thursday, July 8, announcing that the water service was expected to be restored by 9:00 A.M.
Collins says when water service is restored, customers need to boil tap water for one minute before consuming it.
The city also made water trucks and bottled water available on Mission Boulevard near San Luis Rey Place and on Mission Boulevard near Avalon Court for customers affected by the outage.
