The Chicago Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify an abandoned newborn.

The baby was reportedly found inside one of the drawers of an abandoned dresser in an alley on Tuesday morning (August 10). CBS Chicago reports that a woman noticed the dresser as she drove by the alley, and when she pulled over, she found the baby in the bottom drawer.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, the woman said the baby wrapped in a rosary and with vomit in his mouth when she found him in the drawer. She administered aid to the baby until first responders arrived at the scene.

The woman asked local news outlets not to identify her by name.

Police confirmed to local media that the newborn was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in good condition.

However, they still don't know who he is.

Chicago police say the boy was found in an alley on the 2300 Block of N. Oak Park Ave. around 8:16 a.m. The baby is less than a week old, according to the Chicago Police Department community alert. The department urges the public to come forward with information about the incident by calling Detective Figueroa at 312-746-6554. People can also submit anonymous tips at cpdtip.com.
