Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine delivered the news via a press release Wednesday, saying he was happy to have LoMenzo back.
"Tour rehearsals just began, and we cannot wait to start crushing North America," Mustaine said.
A sought-after bassist, LoMenzo has worked with the likes of White Lion, Zakk Wylde, Black Label Society, David Lee Roth and Slash. He was previously a member of Megadeth from 2006 - 2010 and played on the band's 2007 United Abominations and 2009 Endgame albums.
“I’m super stoked to be rejoining Megadeth for the upcoming Metal Tour of the Year," LoMenzo said in a statement. "There are no better fans than Megadeth fans, I can’t wait to get out there and shred some Megadeth music with you all.”
Megadeth had been working on a new album, titled The Sick, the Dying and the Dead, prior to its recent split with longtime bassist Dave Ellefson.
Mustaine confirmed this summer that the band was re-recording Ellefson's parts on the new album. It's unclear if LoMenzo was also the one to do that.
Megadeth parted ways with Ellefson in May due to a revenge porn scandal in which sexually explicit videos Ellefson exchanged with a woman not his wife were leaked online. Ellefson has vowed to press criminal and civil charges against the person responsible for sharing the footage online.
