Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers rescued a golden eagle in Colorado Springs, reports FOX31.

The majestic bird was found struggling to fly in the Meridian Ranch area.

According to CPW, the golden eagle will be sent to the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center's raptor facility in Pueblo. The bird will be evaluated and treated once it arrives.

In the video below, the wildlife manager with CPW says they received a call about the golden eagle around 8:00 A.M. on August 12.

They were informed that the eagle had been in the Meridian Ranch area since daylight and had not been able to fly.

According to the officer, the golden eagle interacted with some of the other wildlife on the ranch like the donkeys.

"Hopefully there's nothing really too wrong with it," said the CPW officer. "Hopefully it'll be able to come back pretty soon and be able to be released in the same area."

The golden eagle is one of the best-known birds of prey and one of the largest birds in North America.

They're usually found alone or in pairs and favor partially or completely open country, especially areas around mountains, hills, and cliffs.
