Salt Lake City has the worst air quality in the entire world once again. This comes as wildfire smoke is getting pushed into the area from nearby fires, reported FOX 13 Now.

IQAir, a company that monitors air quality around the world, released a study of the metropolitan areas that have the worst air quality on the planet. According to that study, Salt Lake City ranked as the very worst.

Utah's air quality is categorized as "unhealthy" right now. This means that doctors and other experts are advising Utahns to stay inside and to drive as little as possible. Dr. Denitza Blagev from Intermountain Healthcare told ABC 4, "Don't think that because you're not in a sensitive group that this air pollution won't affect you, it will."

According to IQAir, here are the top 7 metropolitan areas in the world with the worst air quality:

  1. Salt Lake City
  2. Santiago, Chile
  3. Dhaka, Bangladesh
  4. Lahore, Pakistan
  5. Dubai, UAE
  6. Wuhan, China
  7. Kuwait, China

Salt Lake City is expected to get moisture in the coming days, which will push most of the smoke out of the area.
