Marcus Smart has agreed to a new long-term deal to stay with the Boston Celtics.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reports Smart agreed to a four-year, $77.1 million max contract extension on Monday (August 16), which is fully guaranteed through 2025-26 and includes a trade kicker, sources confirmed.
Smart, 27, spent all of his previous seven NBA seasons with the Celtics after being selected by the franchise at No. 6 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, following a decorated two-year collegiate career at Oklahoma State University.
Several of Smart's Celtics teammates were excited about the news of the defensive-minded guard returning long-term, including franchise player Jayson Tatum.
"Happy for my dawg!" Tatum quote-tweeted in response to Bleacher Report's reposting of Charania's report.
