The Ohio Department of Transportation shared video of an overturned semi truck early Tuesday morning (August 17). The truck was reportedly carrying 30,000 pounds worth of Jack Daniels bottles.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. at the Interstate 70 westbound ramp toward Interstate 270 southbound, blocking off the ramp for hours. ODOT Columbus warned motorists that the ramp “from I-70 WB to I-270 SB is CLOSED due to a crash involving a semi truck. The ramp is expected to remain closed through the morning commute.”

The state Department of Transportation shared another update shortly before 6 a.m.with a video showing efforts to turn the semi truck right-side up. ODOT said at that time: “Crews are still working to clear the scene of this earlier crash," and urged morning commuters to “avoid the area” as officials continued to work.

ODOT spokesperson Matt Bruning said on Twitter at about 5:20 a.m. that “we’re told it’s loaded with @JackDaniels_US and no, there’s no @CocaCola trucks nearby.” Another spokesperson, Brooke Ebersole, followed up nearly half an hour later to confirm: “Fellow whiskey lovers can rest easier this morning knowing this truck was full of EMPTY @JackDaniels_US bottles. No wasted libations here.”
