Each state or city has one food that sets it apart from other states. You may think of a deep-dish pizza when you think of Chicago, or a lobster roll when you think of Maine.
Stacker compiled a list of each state's signature food. The website states that "signature dishes are one to be sought out, savored, and remembered." To make the list, the website consulted local newspapers, histories, and recipe collections. "It's guaranteed to be mouthwatering and not at all scientific," the website states.
So what food comes to mind when you think of Utah? With a wide variety of restaurants and recipes, it may be hard to think of one. But, Stacker figured it out.
According to the the website's list, Utah's signature food is funeral potatoes. Despite the sad name, funeral potatoes are actually quite the crowd pleaser.
Here's what the website says about chimichangas:
"Funeral potatoes, despite their somber name, are a signature crowd-pleaser in Utah. They are made with canned soup and cheese and topped with crushed corn flakes. They are so named because Mormon families would serve the dish at large gatherings following a funeral."
