A new record-breaking rollercoaster will soon be up and running in Colorado.
Last week, the ground was broken for the rollercoaster called "Defiance" at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, reports CBS4.
Organizers say the new ride will be the highest looping rollercoaster in the nation, taking riders 7,132 above sea level.
The Defiance will also feature a 110-foot beyond vertical, 102.3-degree free-fall drop. The drop is another record-breaker and is the steepest in the Western U.S., according to CBS4.
The name of the rollercoaster is a homage to the original name of Glenwood Springs in 1879 when miners and prospectors "defied the elements, norms and laws of civilization," according to park officials.
“As this coaster will showcase the incredible talents of Gerstlauer, we believe the same will hold true for the installation and our installation team, which is considered the best in the industry,” Ed Hiller, CEO of Ride Entertainment said.
The ride will be manufactured by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, gmbH, and is expected to open to the public in the summer of 2022.
