After decades of mutual admiration, Gibson and Jerry Cantrell have announced a special new Les Paul Custom based on one of Jerry's longtime favorite Alice In Chains guitars.

Cantrell was in eighth grade when he asked his dad for a Les Paul for Christmas. He couldn't play guitar yet, but the guitar was all he wanted, so his dad made a smaller investment and bought him a modest starter-level acoustic guitar.

"I remember I was really disappointed," Cantrell recalls. "My dad was like, 'You get good on that thing first and then I'll buy you a Les Paul. But you learn how to play that thing first.'"

Gibson's new Jerry Cantrell "Wino" Les Paul Custom is Cantrell's first collaboration with the iconic guitar maker. The "Wino" is based on a guitar by the same name that has been in Cantrell's quiver since the early-'90s.

To kick off the new partnership, Gibson's luthiers have hand-crafted a special limited run of 100 "Wino" guitars, each hand-signed on the back of the headstock by Cantrell.

More than a year-and-a-half after letting slip on GibsonTV that he was indeed working on a new solo album — his first in nearly two decades — Cantrell completed the record this year.

The album is called Brighten and arrives October 29. Cantrell will support the record with a tour in the spring of 2022. Get all the tour dates here.
