In a country as diverse as America, accents and colloquialisms vary in every state you visit.
A new study conducted by Stacker set out to find the most interesting local slang words from every state.
The slang word that the study chose for Florida is "no-see-ums."
"Florida's hot and humid temperatures year round mean that the state is home to a variety of unique wildlife, including no-see-ums. No-see-ums are usually found around bodies of water, and the slang phrase is used to describe those tiny flying bugs you can't see but can definitely feel."
To find common slang words in each state, Stacker took data from various sources.
But that's far from the only interesting slang words that Floridians use in everyday speech.
According to YourDictionary.com, these are some of the Florida slang words and terms you should know:
- Acere
- Bih
- Bussin
