As promised, a newly-remixed version of BTS' "Butter" arrived on Friday (August 27) and it features Megan Thee Stallion.
The brief cut, which clocks in at two-and-a-half minutes, hears Hot Girl Meg jump on the pop track and reference her days of writing rhymes in college. “And I be on these girls necks like the back of they bobs/ Houston's finest, in the room with bosses/ Make 'em all get ratchet in they suits and blouses/ I remember writing flows in my room in college/ Now I need global entry to the shows I'm rocking,” she spits.
Hot Girl Meg's remix was up in the air until Tuesday night when a Texas judge ruled in favor of her request to release the remix against the wishes of her label 1501 Certified Entertainment. In an emergency temporary restraining order against the label, the rapper alleged that the company was blocking her from releasing the track.
The remix arrives days after BTS had to cancel their "Map of the Soul Tour." Their label, Big Hit Music, released a statement via fan platform Weverse about the trek, which was originally announced in January 2020 and scheduled to kick off in April 2020. "Our company has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS 'Map of the Soul Tour,' knowing that all fans have been waiting eagerly and long for the tour," the statement read. "However, due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned. Therefore we must announce the cancellation of the BTS 'Map of The Soul Tour.'"
