Chlöe Bailey has confirmed that she is venturing out on her own and plans to release a solo album in the near future. During a recent interview with Darlene Aderoju of Billboard, the budding musical sensation revealed that her album is "90% done" and she is heading in a "more pop" direction with this release.
“It’s 90% done," Bailey said.
“I’m wrapping it up with such bad-b---- energy."
The five-time GRAMMY nominee explained that she began working on her solo debut when her sister, Halle Bailey, went overseas to begin shooting The Little Mermaid. While the two were apart, the older Bailey sister began sharing covers of popular songs like "Love On The Brain" by Rihanna and "Pick Up Your Feelings" by Jazmine Sullivan. Then, she took things to a new level by teasing a new single called "Have Mercy" produced by Murda Beatz. Not to mention, she was spotted in the studio with Yung Bleu and 6LACK.

While it may appear that Chlöe Bailey has had a handle on this solo journey from the beginning, it has been a learning process for her as well.
"My sister went to London to film her movie [the upcoming live-action version of The Little Mermaid] for seven or eight months, and it was so hard being without her. That is when I started creating my project. I found my confidence — like, 'OK, you can do this now.' I always have my sister’s support, and she will always have mine, no matter what we do together or individually," she explained.
As a double threat, she is producing and writing on every track that will be included in this project. Ultimately, she hopes this will provide a spotlight for talented women in this business and inspire a new generation of young women looking to create their own paths.
"I feel completely empowered to be a woman today and be confident with that. There are so many incredible female producers, I’m not the only one and there were so many before me. It’s just we don’t get the time that we deserve. I hope people seeing me produce only inspires other young women who are fearless in doing that and are okay stepping in the room with men and being confident in who they are and not letting people’s underestimation of us hold us back," she added.
Chlöe Bailey's run as a solo artist will begin this fall with live performances at the Barclays Center in September and October. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little bit longer before we get a release date, title or tracklist connected to the project.
