CHVRCHES recently released their latest album Screen Violence, which features a song with Robert Smith, and during an interview with musicfeeds the band's Iain Cook revealed the most "surprising" thing about working with The Cure frontman.
“The exchanges were surprising in that he is like super, super detailed and really technical. I don’t know why, but I assumed he would just be like, ‘OK, here’s my stuff, do with it what you want and hope for the best,’" Cook explained. “But he was really hands-on with every aspect of how the mix ended up being – and we loved that because that’s exactly how we are as musicians as well. We loved that somebody with his stature and legendary status would actually give a s*** about this sort of collaboration in the way that he did.”
Though his approach may not have been what the trio expected, Cook also revealed something that wasn't surprising to them. “It wasn’t surprising that he was an absolutely lovely man," he said. "Very funny.”
Screen Violence came out on Friday (August 27), and CHVRCHES celebrated with an exclusive iHeartRadio Album Release Party, where they played a handful of songs off the new album. See what went down here.
